Bible Club
Run by: Mr. Turney
The Bible club is composed of a group of students that are curious about the number one, best-selling book in America for over thirty years running. Why is the Bible the most read book in Western Culture? What revelance does it have for a generation in the twenty-first century? What is the mystic of this book that is composed of 66 sub-books and written by over thirty authors? What is the underlying theme of the Bible? To find out the answer to all of these questions, join the Bible Club. There will be guest speakers and videos on stories and subjects from the Bible. Funds from dues are used for refreshments and ministry projects.

Book Club

Reading for FUN + talking about books = Book Club!
If you enjoy reading and talking about books, the Book Club is for you. Students will titles are read.
This club is for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors only.
Chess Club
Run by: Mrs. Ruby
This club is for anyone interested and able to play chess.
Dues: $3.00

Circulo Espanol
Run by: Senor Eskuchen
El Circulo Espanol is a club for any Spanish III or above students. Spanish will be the language of communication. Games and other activities will be used to give students an oppurtunity to use their new language. The members will determine dues.

Drama Club
Run by: Mr. Vogtman
Dedicated to drama and theatrical events, membership in the Drama Club is earned by working on or participating in drama productions. Benefits of membership include field trips to the theatre, direct involvement in productions, and participation in local special events. Fundraisers are also sponsored by the troupe, with the funds used to support the Drama department and its events.

Envirothon Club
Run by: Mr. Harrington/Mrs. Stiles
This club is a competitive, natural resource program especially designed for high school students by individuals who work in resource conservation careers. The areas that will be explored are wildlife, forestry, soils, aquatics, and a current environmental issue.

French Club
Run by: Mrs. Barney
This club is for anyone who is interested in leaning more about Francophone culture. Having previously taken a French class is not a pre-requisite; English will be the language of communication. We will make crepes, have a cheese tasting, talk about the current events in France, and learn some French trivia.
Club size is limited to 30 students.
At least 10 students must sign up.

Gay Straight Alliance (GSA)
Run by: Ms. Brown
This club is for anyone who is concerned with the issues of discrimination and prejudice based on sexual preference. This group welcomes straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender members. If you are hesitant to join because you think people will make fun of you, well, you are probably right. But don't be discouraged! That is why we need you most of all. People are put down, harassed, and abused everyday because of their sexual preferences and sexual identity. This type of discrimination causes only fear and distress. It doesn't have to be like this. With your help we can work on creating a school environment where everyone feels welcome and no one is scared. Joining this club does not make you gay, lesbian, or bisexual. It makese you an activist for equal rights. It makes you an advocate for tolerance and understanding. It makes you a person who is willing to stand up for something you believe in.

Gridiron Club
Run by: Mr. Lynott
Gridiron Club is open to all BHS students who have a passion for football. In this club, students will learn the art and science of this incredible sport. Club sessions will focus on review and study of the past BHS varsity game films, motivational football videos, classroom sessions learning the X's and O's of the sport, and flag football games in the spring!
Jr. Civitan Club
Run by: Mrs. Shaffer
Junior Civitan Club is being started at BHS in order to provide leadership oppurtunities for students who are school and community focused and want to help raise money to fight causes of childhood disabilities. The goal of club will be to assist in raising money to support the Civitan Club of Frederick and be creative in ways we can work with local disability organizations within the community. Members of the Jr. Civitan Club will be eligible to compete for $1,000-$2,000 scholarships at the local, district, and international levels. Contact Mrs. Shaffer in Room 110 if you have any questions about the organization.
15 members are needed to start a membershi charter.
Math Club
Run by: Mr. Grover
This club is open to all students who are interested in mathematics and problem solving. Teams will compete tournament-style solving problems covering all ranges of high school mathematics. Students interested should enjoy mathematics and be able to work cooperatively.

Needlework Club
Run by: Mrs. Zumbach
Want to crochet? Knit? Cross-stitch? Here's the club! These skills are great for relieving stress, passing the time, and having something to show for your efforts. Learn the basics and then choose a simple project - a scarf or afghan. Afghans could be donated to area organizations such as the Linus Project (for cancer patients) or Birthright. Anyone can join!

Photography Club
Run by: Mrs. Blikenstaff
Students interested in joining Photography Club must have taken Photo I or be currently enrolled in Photo I. The club will be a working club in that members are expected to shoot a roll of film on their own time before each meeting. Film will be brought to each meeting for developing and printing. Also, during each club time we will learn new printing processes as well as manipulation techniques. We will look at master photographers work for ideas and inspiration.
Dues: $5.00

Random Acts of Kindness (Partners with Jefferson Ruritan)

The Random Acts of Kindness Club works in partnership with the Jefferson Ruritan to help support various community programs. Major activities for the year include a Halloween party, Easter party, and the Jefferson Carnival. The goal of the clup is to spread the spirit of kindness through its actions.
Dues: $5.00

A permission slip and application is required for registration and is due by August 31.

Yearbook Club

The yearbook club is organized for students currently enrolled in Publications II or III. These students must have earned at least a “B” average in their Publications I class. The club will focus on gathering photos for club pages, spring sports, and other spring acitivities.
