The University of North Carolina Wilmington is offering summer program. Students may start acquiring college credit. There is a program for juniors and seniors. Summer Language Camps for High School Students will be held at Millersville University. French camp July 23-29, 2006, German camp July 30-August 5th, Spanish camp July 30-August 5. For more information, see Mrs. Tuckey in the Guidance Office. Deadline: June 30.

VOLUNTEER FREDERICK is offering it's SummerServe and SummerServe Express 2006 program. Applications are in the Guidance Office.

Culinary Arts Summer Education Program at Johnson & Wales University. There are summer programs in June and July. If you are interested, please check in the Guidance Office Career Center for more information. Deadline to register is June 16.

THE ARTS AT MARYLAND! July 9-28, 2006 The University of MD is holding workshops in the following areas: Creative Writing, Drawing, Choreography, Production and Performance, The Jazz Experience, Introduction to Music Technology, and Acting and Performance. The application process begins February 20. This program is open to all rising high school juniors and seniors who have an academic average of 3.0 or better and demonstrate maturity, self-discipline, motivation and a desire to succeed. The application process includes a completed application form, a copy of your transcript and a recommendation and essay. The University of Virginia is holding summer programs for students in entering grades 7-12. For more information, check in the Guidance Office Career Center to look at the brochure.

Five Points, Union College's premier summer academic program for rising 8th-12th graders is a residential summer academic program featuring multiple two-week sessions at Union College's beautiful historic campus. For more information, check in the Guidance Office.

Tennis Advantage Camps (Train exclusively with college coaches). There is a Junior Exposure Camp and a Ranked Junior Training Camp. For more information, check in the Guidance Office.

Galluaudet University is offering an exciting new pilot program for hearing students who want to learn American Sign Language and immerse themselves in deaf culture. This program will be held July 23rd-29th and the total cost is $750.00 which includes all meals, housing and activities. The 10th Annual Spring Research Festival is for Frederick County science and math students to attend in order to discover more about careers in scientific research. For more information please go to the website: http://web.ncifcrf.gov/events/sringfest.  

Educational Technology Outreach in the College of Education at the University of Maryland, College Park presents the three week summer Young Scholars Program-Learning Environments for the 21st Century: Students, Learning, and Technology. This undergraduate course for high school students mixes technology such as Logo/Microworlds and Robotics/Lego Mindstorms with a description of educational techniques, pedagogy and standards and requires no prior computer experience.Students receive 3 undergraduate credits from UMCP. Each summer the Maryland Leadership Workshop holds three summer programs.One of them is for students in senior high.The programs are held at McDaniel College. You must be nominated for this program. Bank of America is looking for tomorrow's leaders today.The Student Leaders Program allows students to participate in a paid summer internship with a designated local community organization and leadership development and community service activities with local Bank of America executives. If you wish to be nominated, please see your guidance counselor.

United States Youth Conservation Corps is a well-balanced work-learn-earn program that develops an understanding and appreciation in participating youth of the Nations environment and heritage.Enrollees will be paid the minimum wage for 40 hours.You must be between the ages of 15-18, a permanent resident of the U.S. and be eligible for employment. To apply, complete the application (found in the Guidance Office) and return it by May 26.

The Maryland Institute College of Art is offering its pre-college summer program in Baltimore from June 21-July 19 and in Tuscany from June 14-July 5 and July 5-July 26. For more information come to the Guidance Office or call 410-225-2219 or email  precollege@mica.edu

The Bank of America “Make a Difference in your Community” summer internship. For high school juniors or seniors who are actively engaged in improving your community. This is an eight-week, paid summer internship with a local non-profit organization. Spend an exciting week in Washington, D.C. To apply visit www.bankofamerica.com/neistudentleaders. Deadline is February 29.

Star Summer Camps at the University of Virginia offers enrichment programs for students from 7th-12 grade, SAT/ACT Prep course for grades 10-12 and American Studies for International Students. The brochure is in the Guidance Office for more information or visit www.4starcamps.com.

Clemson University offers summer science, engineering and architecture enrichment programs. For more information, check in the Guidance Office. Deadline to apply is May 1.

Shippensburg- CSI Camp- June 8-12.  Applications accepted until the Monday prior to the start of camp.  Grades 7 up to graduating seniors accepted.  Cost: $300 (commuter) $325 (resident, includes meals)

U of MD- Young Scholars Program- July 13-Aug 1.  Rising juniors and seniors.  Earn 3 college credits!  Take an intro class as part of the UMD summer sessions.  Applications accepted now, did not see a deadline.  Lots of classes listed (not all science).  Biotechnology, Environmental Biology, and Kinesiology look to be the most relevant for us.  No cost listed, I assume it would be standard tuition, same as any U of MD class.

Frostburg State- Regional Math Science Center- six weeks, @June 20-Aug 1 (official start time not set).  Students entering grades 10-12.  (students entering 9th also eligible, for a different 3 week program) FREE- but must meet income guidelines and be a first generation college student (neither parent has a degree).

McDaniel- Forensic Science Camp- session 1 June 23-28, session 2 July 3-8- 1 college credit.  Registration deadline June 1.  Student must have completed Chem. I and Biology I course work, open to high school graduates as well.  Cost: $425 (commuter), $675 (resident).

4 Star Camps is an Academic Enrichment Program at the University of Virginia. This camp is for juniors and seniors and will provide SAT and ACT Prep by Princeton Review and a variety of courses depending upon your interests. You’ll meet kids from all over the world.
