ACT Registration Information

My College QuickStart, new in 2006, is an easy-to-use, online, personalized college and career planning kit comprised of four main sections:

My Online Score Report: An enhanced score report that allows students to review each test question, the student's answer, and the correct answer with answer explanations.

My SAT Study Plan™: A customized SAT ® study plan based on student PSAT/NMSQT test performance, highlighting skills for review and practice.

My College Matches: A starter list of colleges based on the student's state and indicated choice of major.

My Major and Career Matches: Major and career matches that are compatible with the student's general interests and personality type.

Paying for College
"How will I pay for college?" This is probably one of the most common questions you've heard from your students and their parents. And having as many resources as possible available to help you answer this question is very important.
As a continued supporter of Making It Count's in-school presentations, we wanted to let you know about the newly-updated Making College Financial Planning Count online tool. This free resource provides a comprehensive, interactive overview of the entire college financing process. By visiting elearning.makingitcount.com, you, your students and their parents will have access to:

  • The electronic College FundPath TM Worksheet, which allows you to create a customized college funding strategy for your family.
  • Valuable tips and deadlines for the FAFSA.
  • The most up-to-date information about the types of financial aid that are available, including scholarships and grants.

Here are some great ways you can share this resource with your student and parents:

  • Distribute the e-learning link via email
  • Include the link on your school website
  • Provide the link in direct mail pieces
  • Provide the link in your school's newspaper

4-year college bound Seniors - Remember to turn in your Green Counselor Recommendation folder to your Counselor as soon as possible. Don't forget to double check your application deadlines and essay requirements. Also, remember to pick-up your Red Teacher Recommendation folders in Guidance.

Attention Parents: If you have moved, please remember to bring in proof of residency, change of address and telephone number to the Guidance Office. If you have never provided proof of residency to school, please send in to the Guidance Office. Proof of residency includes: utility bill (electric, water, cable, etc. - TELEPHONE BILL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED).

Attention Senior Parents: Remember to check the Guidance section of the BHS website (www.bhs.edu) for important scholorship information and summer programs. Hardcopies are also available in the Guidance Office.

Attention Parents : Remember you can keep up to date on your student’s progress and grades via Pinnacle. Go to www.bhs.edu and click on grades. Use your student’s 8-digit student id number as the login and password.

Attention Parents : Guidance Counselors will be meeting with seniors, performing Individual Counseling Records and credit checks. Letters setting up appointments for juniors and their parents for Individual Counseling Records will be mailed in the fall.

Graduation Project – All students who will be graduating in June 2008 and have not completed a Graduation Project will be required to complete it in the Fall of 2007. Parents please work with your students in completing this project as it is still a graduation requirement for these students.

Seniors - Please make an appointment with your Guidance Counselor to discuss your college applications Check college deadline dates and submit your green folders with transcript requests, autobiographical information and secondary school reports 2-3 weeks before your deadline date. See your counselor with any questions.

Harvard announces free tuition for talented students from families of low and moderate income (below $40,000). Information is available at http://fao.fas.harvard.edu/index.htm.

ACT (American College Test) is a college admissions test also available for students at the end of the junior year or beginning of the senior year. Unlike the SAT, which tests only verbal and math areas, the ACT includes English, math, science, and reading comprehension. For additional information regarding these tests, please see your guidance counselor or register online at http://www.act.org.
